We are a new community-based adult literacy organization. We match trained volunteer tutors with adult learners who are at least 16 years of age and no longer in high school. Please see our About page for more information about our organization.
If you want a tutor, please click For Learners.
We want to thank United Way of Southwest Minnesota for believing in our work from the beginning. They provided Literacy Volunteers of Southwest Minnesota with a fall 2011 Venture Grant to help us develop our logos and to design and print resource materials for our organization. We also want to thank Marshall Public Schools District #413 for serving as our fiscal sponsor for this grant.
We are located in Marshall, Minnesota. To start, we plan to serve learners in communities in Lyon and Redwood Counties, but we hope to offer services in Lincoln and other surrounding counties in Southwest Minnesota in the next year. We are a partner with the Southwest Adult Basic Education Consortium, and we work most closely with the Marshall Adult Education Program.
We also are a member of ProLiteracy, the largest adult literacy organizations in the world, and we will partner with the Minnesota Literacy Council in working to provide literacy services to adults living in Southwest Minnesota.
In order to offer tutoring and adult literacy services, we have to have tutors. For more information about tutoring, click For Tutors.
You can always reach us via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone us at 507-401-7337. We would be delighted to come talk with groups about our organization. Just let us know if you would be interested.
