Summer finally arrived here in Marshall, MN. We can now look forward to summer fun with warmer weather here and the school year almost over.
Between May and August our region hosts a ton of fun events, and yes – some of them involve reading and learning too.
Here at Literacy Volunteers of Southwest Minnesota, our summer schedule of family literacy events at the Marshall-Lyon County Library includes:
- May 11th – Second Saturday Story Time: Poems and Posies
- June 22nd – Science Saturday: Going Batty!
- July 27th – Science Saturday: Science of Sound
There will not be a Second Saturday event in June or July, but we’ll return in August. Science Saturday is canceled in May due to the library being closed for Memorial Day. Check the library website for more events at the library every month.
Other fun family events includes Get Wild About Reading sponsored by United Way of Southwest Minnesota. Reading, puppets and fun will be brought to various area parks in the region. All ages are welcome, with books and activities directed to pre-school age children. This event is brought to several towns in the area.
