We are proud to share that our very own Candace Thomas received recognition last night at Minnesota Literacy Council’s 25th Annual Journeys Reading and Awards Ceremony.
Candace received an Outstanding Volunteer Award for her ongoing dedication to literacy. Candace has been involved with Literacy Volunteers of SW MN since we were still an idea being discussed, and an integral part of our success since the organization’s beginning in 2011.
Candace’s knowledge, dedication, and passion shines through everything she does; from serving as the Board Chair, to training volunteer tutors, to tutoring both GED and ESL students, to developing our monthly family literacy programs, and more.
Every learner who works with Candace develops an increased learner persistence and self-direction in their education, which is a huge accomplishment.
A huge thank you to all of our volunteers for your wonderful commitment to literacy. We hope to see many of you on the roster of volunteers recognized at this event in future years.
And a thank you to the Minnesota Literacy Council for the opportunity to show recognition to Candace and to celebrate together.
